Westlake Village, North Ranch, Lake Sherwood
Home automation in Westlake Village.
Most of the Westlake Village houses County Line has wired already have Lutron lighting. Automation is the next layer: cameras, audio, video, network, climate and the gate on the same keypads and the same app, built on a backbone the company either installed at rough-in or surveys before quoting.

Why here
Houses from the 1980s and 1990s, and what their wiring can take.
Westlake Village, North Ranch and Lake Sherwood were built out largely in the 1980s and 1990s, before structured wiring was standard, and many of the estates have since been remodeled once or twice. Automation in those houses starts with an honest survey: where the existing conduit and attic access allow a wired network, cameras and shade power, and where wireless is the right answer. County Line has done that survey in hundreds of Conejo Valley houses and says plainly what can be wired cleanly and what should not be forced.
On the new custom homes in North Ranch and Lake Sherwood, the backbone goes in at rough-in with the rest of the electrical. Either way the systems are the same: Lutron lighting and shades, cameras and security, multi-room audio and video, networking, climate, the gate and the generator, on keypads, touch panels, the app and voice.

Survey
Attic, conduit, panel, the existing Lutron system if there is one, the network closet. An hour, no charge.
- 02
Plan
What gets wired, what goes wireless, where the rack lives, which rooms do what. A written proposal.
- 03
Install and commission
Backbone, devices, programming, a walkthrough. Every keypad does what its engraving says.

Westlake Village automation questions
Can automation be added to an older Westlake Village house?
Yes, usually. County Line Electric surveys the house first: attic access, existing conduit, the panel and the network closet. Lighting control, shades, cameras and audio can almost always be added; the survey decides how much is wired and how much is wireless, before any proposal.
Does County Line Electric install home automation in Westlake Village?
Yes. County Line Electric designs and installs whole-home automation in Westlake Village, North Ranch and Lake Sherwood: Lutron lighting and shades, cameras and security, multi-room audio and video, networking, climate and the gate, from its office in Newbury Park.
I already have Lutron. Can the rest be added to it?
Yes. A Lutron HomeWorks system is the foundation; cameras, audio, video, climate and the gate are added on a control platform chosen with you, so the lighting keypads you already use run the rest of the house too.

The part nobody sees
The network is the house.
Every automation system runs on the network, and the network is where most systems fail. A consumer router in a closet, a single access point for a 6,000 square foot house, cameras on the same wireless as the televisions: these are the reasons a smart home stops being used. County Line builds the network the way a commercial electrician builds one: wired drops to every fixed device, enterprise access points placed from a survey of the house, separate traffic for cameras and for guests, a rack with real power and cooling, and conduit between buildings where there is a guest house or a gate.
That network is also what makes the system replaceable. Control platforms change every few years; a wired backbone does not. A house County Line pre-wires can change its control system without opening a wall.
Decide this before framing
The automation questions a builder should ask at plan review.
- Where is every television, speaker, camera, keypad, touch panel and shade going, on the drawings, not in a later conversation
- Where does the rack live, and does that room have power, cooling and a path to the roof for antennas
- What runs on the generator: the network, the cameras, the gate and the head end should
- Which buildings need to be connected, and is there conduit between them
- Who owns the control platform decision, the owner, the designer or an integrator, and when is it made
- What does the owner actually want to do from a phone, and what should just happen on its own
