Beverly Hills, for builders and architects

New construction electrical in Beverly Hills.

Beverly Hills is its own city with its own building department and Edison service, surrounded by LADWP neighborhoods. County Line Electric is the electrical subcontractor on new custom houses there, with the lighting control and automation they are designed around.

The job

A different city, a different utility, the same Westside builders.

Beverly Hills is an independent city, so a new house is permitted and inspected by the City of Beverly Hills rather than LADBS, and the utility is Southern California Edison rather than LADWP, which serves Bel Air, Brentwood and the Los Angeles neighborhoods around it. Builders who work across the Westside file with a different city and a different utility on each side of the line, and County Line builds the schedule around whichever applies.

New houses in the flats and the hills north of Sunset are built around their systems: Lutron HomeWorks with centralized dimming panels, Ketra, motorized shades, theater and media rooms, and an automation backbone carrying audio, video, the network, security and the gate. County Line runs that backbone, the dimming panels and the keypad wiring at rough-in with the branch circuits, so the designer's and integrator's work at finish lands on wiring that is already right.

Questions from Beverly Hills builders

Who issues electrical permits for new homes in Beverly Hills?

The City of Beverly Hills issues electrical permits for new homes there, because Beverly Hills is an independent city with its own building department. Electric service is Southern California Edison. County Line Electric files with both.

Does County Line Electric work with lighting designers and integrators in Beverly Hills?

Yes. County Line Electric works from the lighting designer's and integrator's drawings, flags conflicts before rough-in, installs the Lutron system and the low-voltage backbone, and programs the scenes with the designer at finish.
