Where this fits

This page is one place on County Line's Storm Power Board, which tracks every Edison outage in the company's service area across Ventura, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara counties.

How the board works
Where does the outage data come from?
From the California Office of Emergency Services statewide outage feed, which publishes what the utilities post on their own outage maps and refreshes about every 15 minutes. County Line places each Edison outage in a service area by its map location.
What is a customer-hour?
One electric account without power for one hour. Fifty homes dark for four hours is 200 customer-hours. It is the simplest honest way to compare a short outage that hit many homes with a long one that hit a few.
When did the season log start?
County Line began logging on November 1, 2026. The utilities do not publish a running total by neighborhood, so the count starts the day the log did and grows every 15 minutes.
Why are some Los Angeles neighborhoods blank?
Pacific Palisades, Bel Air, Brentwood, Encino, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Tarzana and Woodland Hills are served by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, which is not in the state feed. Their outages are on the LADWP outage map.
What keeps a house on when the grid goes off?
A standby generator with an automatic transfer switch carries a house for days on natural gas or propane. A battery covers the first hours silently. Designed together, with solar and the panel, they make a residential microgrid. County Line designs, installs and services all of it.
Where the numbers come from
Public sources, read every 15 minutes.
County Line reads these sources and keeps the season log. Nothing on this board is estimated.
- California Office of Emergency Services open data: the statewide power outage feed, built from the utility outage maps for PG&E, Southern California Edison, SDG&E and SMUD.
- National Weather Service, Los Angeles and Oxnard office: wind, storm, flood and fire weather alerts.
- Southern California Edison outage center: the utility's own outage map and restoration estimates.
- Southern California Edison Public Safety Power Shutoffs: shutoff notices during wind events.
- LADWP outages: for Los Angeles city neighborhoods, which the state feed does not include.
