Studio City and Encino

Home automation in Studio City and Encino.

In the hills above Ventura Boulevard, the houses range from new custom builds to mid-century homes being remodeled, and automation has to fit both. County Line Electric pre-wires new houses, surveys existing ones, installs the Lutron lighting and shades, and works with the integrator on the rest.

Why here

New houses on hillside lots, and older ones being remodeled.

Studio City and Encino are City of Los Angeles neighborhoods, permitted by the Department of Building and Safety and served by LADWP. South of Ventura Boulevard both climb into the Santa Monica Mountains, where teardowns are being replaced with new custom houses and the hillside lots shape where the equipment room, the rack and the conduit runs can go. On those houses the automation backbone goes in at rough-in.

The other half of the work is the existing house: a 1950s or 1960s home being remodeled room by room, where the walls are only open in some places. County Line surveys the attic access, existing conduit, the panel and the network closet first, then decides with the owner how much of the system is wired and how much uses wireless Lutron and network equipment.

Studio City and Encino automation questions

Can home automation be added to an older Studio City house?

Yes, usually. County Line Electric surveys the house first: attic access, existing conduit, the panel and the network closet. Lighting control, shades, cameras and audio can usually be added; the survey decides how much is wired and how much is wireless before any proposal.

Who provides electricity in Studio City and Encino?

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power provides electricity in Studio City and Encino, because both are neighborhoods of the City of Los Angeles. Electrical permits come from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety.
