Ventura, for builders and architects
New construction electrical in Ventura.
New houses in Ventura are going up on the hillside lots above the city, where the Thomas Fire burned, and across the flatter neighborhoods below. County Line Electric is the electrical subcontractor on that work, from the Edison service application to the final inspection.
The job
Hillside lots, the Thomas Fire footprint, and two permit offices.
The Thomas Fire of December 2017 destroyed hundreds of homes in the hills above Ventura, and many of the houses on those lots have been rebuilt or are being built new, to current code and with the backup power that fire country calls for. Addresses inside the City of Ventura are permitted and inspected by the city; the unincorporated areas around it are Ventura County's. Southern California Edison serves both, and its new-service process sets the schedule for temporary and permanent power.
A new Ventura house is typically built close to all-electric: heat pumps, induction, EV charging and often solar with a battery. That sets the service size before anything else is drawn, and County Line works it out from a load calculation at the start, then carries the rough-in, the low-voltage backbone, lighting control, the generator or battery and the finish as the electrical subcontractor.
