Moorpark 93021, Simi Valley 93063 and 93065
Electrical contractor in Moorpark and Simi Valley.
Moorpark and Simi Valley sit in the same ring of hills on the east side of Ventura County, served by the same utility and hit by the same Santa Ana wind shutoffs. County Line Electric installs standby generators, upgrades services and adds EV charging and Lutron lighting in both cities from its office in Newbury Park.

What is different here
Two cities, one utility, and hills that burn.
Moorpark and Simi Valley are both incorporated cities in Ventura County, so an electrical permit is a city permit: Moorpark's building and safety office for an address in Moorpark, Simi Valley's for one in Simi Valley. Both are served by Southern California Edison, and both are ringed by hillsides inside the state's mapped fire hazard zones. The Mountain Fire of November 2024 burned in the hills west of Moorpark toward Camarillo.
That geography is why Edison's Public Safety Power Shutoffs reach these cities. When the Santa Ana winds come down through the passes, Edison can de-energize the circuits that run through the hills, and the neighborhoods on the edges of both valleys, from Wood Ranch and the hills above Simi to the newer tracts on the north side of Moorpark, can lose power for the length of the wind event and the line patrols that follow it.

RebuildStandby power
Backup sized to the house, on the gas line it already has.
Most homes in Moorpark and Simi Valley have a natural gas service, which makes a Generac standby generator with an automatic transfer switch the usual backup: it starts on its own when the utility power drops and hands the house back when it returns. County Line sizes the unit from a load calculation covering the circuits the household chooses, places it where the manufacturer's clearances, the city's rules and any homeowners association allow, and pulls the city permit.
Where the electrical service itself is the limit, the generator waits for the panel. Many of the houses in both cities were built between the 1960s and the 1990s on services sized for gas appliances, and adding a generator, an EV charger or a heat pump to a full panel starts with a load calculation and, when it is needed, a service upgrade with Edison. The standby generator page covers the units and the process.

Charging and lighting
EV charging and Lutron lighting in Moorpark and Simi Valley homes.
EV charging in Moorpark and Simi Valley is a Level 2 charger on a dedicated circuit, installed after a load calculation shows whether the existing service can carry it or whether load management or an upgrade comes first. County Line is a Tesla Certified Installer and installs the Tesla Wall Connector and other Level 2 chargers with a city permit and inspection.
Lighting work in both cities is mostly remodels: Lutron dimming, keypads and motorized shades wired while the ceilings are open, scaled to the rooms that are being redone rather than the whole house. The lighting and shading page explains the options.

Moorpark and Simi Valley questions
Who issues electrical permits in Moorpark and Simi Valley?
Each city issues its own. Moorpark and Simi Valley are incorporated cities in Ventura County, so an electrical permit for a generator, a service upgrade or an EV charger comes from the city where the house is. Electric service in both is Southern California Edison. County Line Electric pulls the permit and schedules the inspection as part of the job.
Do Simi Valley and Moorpark see Public Safety Power Shutoffs?
Yes. Southern California Edison can de-energize circuits that run through the hillsides around both cities during Santa Ana wind events, and neighborhoods on the edges of the valleys can lose power for the length of the event and the inspections that follow. A standby generator with an automatic transfer switch keeps the chosen circuits running through it.
Does County Line Electric install EV chargers in Simi Valley?
Yes. County Line Electric installs Level 2 EV chargers, including the Tesla Wall Connector, in Simi Valley and Moorpark, starting with a load calculation on the existing service and finishing with the city permit and inspection.
