What is different here
A flat city with fire country on its northern edge.
Most of Camarillo is flat, newer and on circuits that rarely see a planned shutoff. The northern edge is different. Camarillo Heights, the hills above Las Posas Road and the canyons toward Somis and Moorpark are inside the state's fire hazard zones, and in November 2024 the Mountain Fire, driven by Santa Ana winds, burned through that country and destroyed more than two hundred structures, many of them homes in Camarillo Heights.
Permits split along the same line. Addresses inside the City of Camarillo are permitted by the city and unincorporated parcels by Ventura County, and the two run separate Mountain Fire rebuild processes. The utility everywhere is Southern California Edison, which de-energizes the hillside circuits in wind events.

AutomationMountain Fire rebuilds
A rebuilt house is a new house, wired to today's code.
The homes being rebuilt after the Mountain Fire are new construction: temporary power on the cleared lot, a new service from Edison sized for the house as it will be, a panel with room for the heat pump and the chargers, and the generator or battery designed in from the start. County Line works as the electrical contractor on rebuilds, with the owner or the builder, from the temporary pole to the final inspection, and walks the lot first at no charge.
The fire rebuild page covers the sequence in detail, and the Residential Microgrid pages cover the backup design a rebuild is the cheapest moment to install.

The rest of the city
Spanish Hills, Las Posas and the newer tracts.
In Spanish Hills and the Las Posas estates the work is the same as on any large property in the Conejo hills: standby generators on natural gas with automatic transfer switches, Lutron lighting in remodels, EV charging on services that may need an upgrade first. In the newer tracts on the flat, it is mostly EV chargers and panel work, done with a load calculation and a permit.
