What is different here
Three Valley neighborhoods, one city, one city-owned utility.
Sherman Oaks, Tarzana and Woodland Hills are neighborhoods of the City of Los Angeles, not cities of their own. Electrical permits and inspections come from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, and electric service comes from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, which runs its own service standards and its own process for new services and for equipment that can export power, separate from Southern California Edison's.
South of Ventura Boulevard the three neighborhoods rise into the Santa Monica Mountains, where the hillside lots fall under the city's Baseline Hillside Ordinance and much of the terrain is inside the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone.

RebuildNew custom homes
The hillside teardowns are new construction.
A hillside lot south of the boulevard that has been cleared for a new house gets the full electrical scope: temporary power, the LADWP service application, a service sized for an all-electric house with EV charging and a pool, the rough-in, the Lutron and automation backbone, finish, and the final with LADBS. County Line works as the electrical subcontractor on that scope and plans the service, the generator and the equipment yard around the hillside ordinance from the start.
Older houses north of the boulevard bring the other half of the work: service upgrades on 1950s and 1960s homes being electrified, kitchen and great-room remodels with Lutron dimming, and EV charging after a load calculation. The Studio City page covers the hillside work to the east.

Lighting, automation and backup
Lutron, automation and standby power in the Valley hills.
The new and remodeled houses in the hills above Sherman Oaks, Tarzana and Woodland Hills are built around their systems: Lutron HomeWorks lighting control and motorized shades on the canyon-facing glass, and an automation backbone carrying audio, video, the network, cameras and the gate. County Line runs the dimming panels, keypad wiring and low-voltage pathways at rough-in. Where backup is wanted, a Generac standby generator on natural gas with an automatic transfer switch is sized from a load calculation and placed within the city's noise and setback rules.

Sherman Oaks, Tarzana and Woodland Hills questions
Who provides electricity in Woodland Hills?
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power provides electricity in Woodland Hills, Tarzana and Sherman Oaks, because all three are neighborhoods of the City of Los Angeles. Electrical permits come from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. County Line Electric files with both.
Does County Line Electric wire new custom homes in Tarzana and Sherman Oaks?
Yes. County Line Electric works as the electrical subcontractor on new custom homes in the hills south of Ventura Boulevard in Tarzana, Sherman Oaks and Woodland Hills, from temporary power and the LADWP service through rough-in, Lutron and automation wiring, finish and the LADBS final.
Can I add a standby generator to a house in Sherman Oaks?
Yes, usually. A standby generator can be added to a Sherman Oaks house where there is a natural gas service and a location that meets the manufacturer's clearances and the City of Los Angeles rules for setbacks and equipment noise. County Line Electric sizes the Generac unit from a load calculation, pulls the LADBS permit and installs the automatic transfer switch.
